Thread vein also referred to as spider veins, thread veins are commonly found on the face and legs but they can appear anywhere on the body. Thread veins are tiny blood vessels which run close to the surface of the skin, face and the body. They look like thin red or occasionally purple or blue lines. They appear when blood vessels become enlarged which cause the veins to appear broken. The medical term for them is telangiectasia.
